CIRCOLOQUADRO arte contemporanea is pleased to present Sunset Journeys, the first Italian solo show of Lidija Delic, curated by Marta Cereda, which will be inaugurated on Thursday 23^rd  March 2017.

The young artist, who currently lives and works in Belgrade, will be presenting her latest project in Milan: a series of paintings focusing on the idea of sunset as synthetic and symbolic representation of travelling, memory and flow of time.

The apparently banal subject of the works is on one hand emphasized through repetition and redundancy, while on the other hand is cancelled thanks to a painting technique that requires ability to wait and leads to outcomes  never exactly the same.

Large size papers and an installation to highlight the subjective nature of time and the evanescence of memory, while the subject reminds of en plein air landscape painting as well as exotic landscapes’ postcards, collected and admired by the artist.

The new location of CIRCOLOQUADRO arte contemporanea, with a large window facing Corso Buenos Aires, establishes a relationship with the project, introducing a new key of interpretation: the flow of real time, that gradually illuminates the exposed artwork and then darkens it naturally.

Lidija Delic (Montenegro, 1986) lives and works in Belgrade, Serbia. After graduating in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, she earned a PhD in Multimedia Art Department from the same University. Her work has been presented in solo and group shows, such as Interspace (Gallery 212, Belgrade, Serbia,  2016) and Diving (Espacio Trapezio, Madrid, Spain, 2015). In 2015 she was artist-in-residence in Lanaken (Belgium) at Glo’ Art  Global Art Center and Madrid (Spain) at Intercambiador Acart. In 2017 she was selected for BJCEM, Biennale des jeunes créateurs de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée. She is cofounder of U10 Art Space.

Giovedì 23 marzo 2017 CIRCOLOQUADRO arte contemporanea presenta la prima personale in Italia di Lidija Delic, Sunset Journeys, a cura di Marta Cereda.

La giovane artista, che vive e lavora a Belgrado, presenterà a Milano la sua ricerca più recente: una serie di dipinti che ruotano intorno all’idea del tramonto come rappresentazione sintetica e simbolica di temi legati al viaggio, alla memoria e allo scorrere del tempo.

Nelle opere in mostra l’apparente banalità del soggetto viene da una parte enfatizzata, attraverso la ripetizione e la ridondanza, dall’altro viene annullata grazie a una tecnica pittorica che richiede capacità di attesa e che impedisce un risultato uniforme e uguale a se stesso.

Alcune carte di grandi dimensioni e un’installazione sottolineano dunque la soggettività del tempo e l’evanescenza del ricordo, mentre il soggetto rimanda sia alla pittura di paesaggio en plein air sia alle collezioni di cartoline di paesaggi esotici raccolte e sfogliate dall’artista.

La nuova sede di CIRCOLOQUADRO arte contemporanea con la grande finestra affacciata su corso Buenos Aires dialoga con il progetto, inserendo un ulteriore livello di lettura: quello dello scorrere del tempo reale che progressivamente illumina e porta all’oscurità naturalmente le opere in mostra.

Lidija Delic (Montenegro, 1986) vive e lavora a Belgrado, in Serbia.  Dopo essersi diplomata in Pittura presso la facoltà di Belle Arti a Belgrado, ha conseguito un dottorato presso il dipartimento di Arte Multimediale della stessa università. Il suo lavoro è stato esposto in mostre personali e collettive, tra cui si ricordano Interspace (Gallery 212, Belgrado, 2016) e Diving (Espacio Trapezio, Madrid, Spagna, 2015). Nel 2015 è stata artista in residenza presso Glo’ Art, Global Art Center, Lanaken, Belgio e Intercambiador Acart, Madrid, Spagna. Nel 2017 è stata selezionata per BJCEM, Biennale des jeunes créateurs de l’Europe et de la Méditerranée. È cofondatrice di U10 Art Space.
